Had a great time getting creative with Isabella for her senior photos last week! She had been following my work for over two years before realising we were from the same town; the world is a small place sometimes. Being a photographer herself, it was fun getting to talk about our inspirations, the creative process, and life in Southwest Missouri. Thanks for trusting me throughout this shoot, Isabella!Read More
When I was 13 years old, I moved to Merriam Woods, -a neighboring town to Rockaway Beach. It was a drastically different environment than I had ever been exposed to. Our first day there I remember driving through our new neighborhood with my family to the movie rental store and seeing a man in his underwear shoot a chicken with a handgun. The following years were filled with the exploration of creeks, cliffs, abandoned houses, and social landscapes that offered a new type of experience.

Last week I got to spend the day scrambling around rocky outcrops and marching through rejuvenated forest scapes with my good friend & tattoo artist, Josh, + his love, Jennifer & her son Cody. Getting to drive from destination to destination with the windows down, drinking in the warm Ozark air & sharing stories made for a special day. These two have a serious ambition for life & an easy love for each other. Josh you're a phenomenal artist and great person to be around & Jennifer you're a super-mom. I'm glad I know you guys!Read More
Autumn was the last of her siblings to get married, so it was a privilege to document the closing chapter of her family's generation of weddings. Autumn's live-wire charisma balances out Ben's more soft spoken & chilled out demeanor; together they make a great team. From the get-go, Autumn specified that she wanted the raw moments, something candid and intimate to remember the day by. This shoot came on the heels of a trip I took to Egypt & India where I was doing street photography, an experience that really removed me from the cookie cutter wedding photography and re-calibrated me for this day of beautiful love, non stop family joy & all the moments in between.Read More
After an afternoon exploring Eureka Springs with friends, we rushed back to the car to make it to a hidden spot outside of the town for some couple photos before the sun set. We crossed the river, waded through the tall grass & sauntered through the blasted rock to the old steel bridge. We arrived right as the sun set. The following images of Nick and Angela were taken in the span of 15 minutes. You don't need a lot of time to create something beautiful when the love is this electric.Read More
Filled to the brim with gratitude for the couple weeks in November that I got to spend road-tripping around New Zealand with my best friend & partner. Indy & I met a little over 3 years ago while I was hitch hiking around New Zealand with a motley crew of boys from the states, and we've stayed close ever since. From the first moment I saw her there has always been something about her that was different from anyone else I'd met before.. honestly, I had written off the idea of "true love", "soul mates", etc. entirely until she she walked into my life. Anyways, gonna save the whole sappy story for now, but long story short I don't know what the hell I did to get so lucky. Here's the photos from our re-union after a 4 month gap of not seeing each other.
P.S. thanks so much to Tony & Mimi for being so unbelievably welcoming to me, and Jock and Gwyn for hosting me/taking me along for some adventures.
Logan Slusser contacted me about shooting he & his fiance's wedding a few months ago. Shortly after, their plans got changed around and he asked if I'd document their elopement instead. After inquiring about the location, I was ecstatic that Pruitt's Landing in Northwest Arkansas was the place they had picked out. I've been taking summer trips to go swim there since I was a teenager, and now I was returning to capture something sacred. Logan waited down below on the cliff top with his best pal, Chris, while at the trail head both of the families prayed a blessing over the bride-to-be. Hannah's dad walked her down an aisle of sun-drenched, cedar scented pathway, and then embraced her. It was time to give her away. You could tell by the atmosphere and glossy eyes that he knew she had made the right choice. The words on the letters that they had written to one another made the birds halt their song, the river slow to a crawl & time itself seemed to pull up a chair to breathe in their story.
I'm grateful to be reminded of love's depth at the weddings I shoot. The headlines of our time often look so hopeless, but we mustn't forget that love's roots continue to grow deep, that it's wings spread wider through our acts of kindness and that it's voice is heard clearly through the mouths of lovers professing their eternal adoration to one another. Thank you Logan, Hannah & the rest of the company, for trusting me to be a part of this day.
I went to high school with Brooke and recently got the chance to reconnect for a special occasion, her wedding! Brooke & Jeremy showed an unrelenting amount of patience and love for each other and for their family during a day that had a lot of moving parts and stressful moments. Thanks for trusting my creative direction throughout the day and for welcoming me so warmly.Read More
2 months ago I tore my ACL. I had to either cancel or push all of my shoots back until I regained mobility. So for weeks now I've read books, watched online classes, played video games & tried to battle off the depression that tends to couple itself to unplanned injuries. Monday was my first time taking photos in what felt like ages and apparently creative therapy is just what the doctor ordered. Had a blast teaming up with the fine folk at Crawford Denim and Fayetteville's Mom and Pop Shoppe for an evening of laughs, rabbits, herbal cigarettes & new friendships.Read More
I met India Butel 3 years ago while hitchhiking around New Zealand with a few friends of mine. It only took a couple week to form a deep connection & we've worked hard to maintain a friendship ever since. I promised her that if she ever came to visit the US, I'd take her on a roadtrip. June of this year rolled around and I was able to make good on that promise, with the company of 2 of my best friends, Josh Ong & Nick Mehn. My heart still swells looking back at the starry night dips, the windy backseat rides, the saltiness of the sea, the days spent with new friends along the way & the constant presence of a rekindling. Consumed with gratitude towards the loving God that gave us this planet & the beautiful people to share the experiences with. All photos shot on 35mm film with Kodak Ultramax & Kodak Portra.Read More
